Project Objectives:

Investigate new herbicides to improve weed management and environmental suitability for eastern Oregon dryland crops. Particular emphasis will be placed on weed management in intensive dryland crop rotations using direct seeding.

Characterize the impact of alternative, dryland rotation crops on winter annual grass weed populations and develop crop rotation practices that minimize crop losses due to weeds.

Develop improved weed management practices for dryland fallow to optimize herbicide inputs and reduce tillage.

Develop strategies for restoration of degraded native grasslands.
